Lotus Tarot cards, a deck of 78 in all, have been used for many centuries for different reasons, including both game play as well as for divination and mystical purposes. In a broad definition, the cards are used in readings to help individuals better understand and analyze their futures, present, and past. From about the 18th century on, these cards have been known most as cards used by those associated with the occult or with mystical or magical societies as a means of performing readings for people for divination or other reasons.

The Major consists of 22 cards with suits, just some of which include The Emperor, The Magician, The High Priestess, and The Hanged Man. The Minor Arcana constitutes the other 56 cards in the deck. These cards are divided into four suits of 14 cards per suit, including the King, Queen, Jack, and Knight.
